If you read my post about the De Tapes Per Barcelona tapas route over the weekend, you may have wondered what kinds of tapas you can get. Here’s what I’ve eaten so far, ranked from worst to best!Β
Note: all descriptions are taken from the official tour map.Β
5) Salt Cod Morsel (Bocado de Bacalao)
What: “Potato stuffed with salt cod and apple aioli.”
Where: #17, The House. C/Valencia, 202
Recommended? No. This was easily the most disappointing tapa so far. I love everything that’s in it, but it just tasted of a cold hunk of potato, with a slightly fishy aftertaste.
4) Chickpea and Scallop Brandade with Spinach Pil-Pil (Brandada de Garbanzos con ZamburiΓ±a y Pil-Pil de Espinacas)
What: “Chickpea and scallop brandade with spinach pil-pil.”
Where: #20, MarzΓ‘n BodegΓ³n del Norte. C/Valencia, 207.
Recommended? 50-50. This one was decent. I liked it, and it was nice and warm on a cold afternoon. However, it wasn’t the most exciting tapa, so I wouldn’t go out of my way for this one.
3) Sinful Perol (Pecado de Perol)
What: “White and black Perol sausages millefeuilles with roast potatoes and Iberian ham with a goat cheese gratin.”
Where: #40, Set de GΓ²tic. C/MontsiΓ³, 5.
Recommended? Yes! This one was really, really tasty. I’m not a big fan of sausages, but this was a really delicious tapa. And the waiters were so sweet there. They brought us a big plate for all 10 of us, then said “Remember to share like good hermanos!”
2) Surf & Turf Brochette (Brocheta Terra Mar)
What: “Brochette of chicken, prawn, and apple in Moderna sauce with Maldon salt on caramelised onion, with Voll-Damn beer reduction.”
Where: #22, Rovica Bar, Rambla de Catalunya, 56.
Recommended: Definitely! This one was delicious. And it was pretty filling, with two chunks of chicken and a prawn on the skewer. It’s not the most photogenic, but it was lovely.
1) Bluefin Tuna Tataki (Tataki de AtΓΊn Rojo)
What: “Bluefin tuna tataki with tomato jam and citrus coulis.”
Where: #42, La Taverna del Bisbe, Av. de la Catedral, 6-8.
Recommended: Oh yeah! This was my favorite tapa, and it had some strong competition from the last two. The tuna was so tender and the sauce went perfectly with it. Yum! Also, this is a great bar to go to because it’s right next to the cathedral, so you get a very pretty view as you eat.
Each tapa costs β¬2.40, which comes with a small beer.Β The De Tapes Per Barcelona route is on until Sunday, March 3 if you’re in Barcelona and are looking for some good tapas!Β
Besos!

Have to try all of these! i plan to visit spain before the end of the year!
check out my world in food section on my blog page. hopefully i will be featuring these in there soon too! http://thenecessarytraveller.com/the-world-in-food/
Ooh, hope you stop in Barcelona! There are lots of great places to eat. I’ll check out your post now – thanks for the recommendation.
How fun! I’m pretty sure that I would spend every Sunday on this route until they kicked me out for going back too many times. Quick question: in general, during what time frame is it acceptable to eat tapas?
Haha that’s why it probably only goes for 10 days! π
I think it’s acceptable to eat tapas all day long. I’ve never seen them eaten for breakfast, but I have eaten them at both lunch and dinner.
Omg. That tuna. And 2.40 for tapa and beer?! Why am I still living in Paris where a pint costs 7 euro?!
Yep, β¬2.40! And Barcelona is one of the most expensive cities in Spain…
I can’t believe a pint is β¬7. That’s so much!
They all look pretty fantastic to me! I’ve never really thought of Barcelona as a tapas destination so now it looks like I’ve got a few places to try out, especially for that potato/sausage concoction… π
It’s not usually a tapas destination, because those are traditionally from a different part of Spain. But for the 10-14 days they do this route, it’s a great place to be for tapas!
I’m as green with envy as your pil-pil de espinacas :D.
Thank you so much for sharing! I hadn’t heard of Barcelona’s tapes week. I am so making plans to be there for next year!
You’re welcome, thanks for stopping by! It’s a great place to be, especially when there are tapas deals on. π
That looks amazing! I miss Spanish food so much.
Minus the first one, it was all so tasty! I know when I leave I’ll miss the food too.
They all look delicious…especially the Sinful Perol! I think the goat cheese is what really got me.
Yeah, goat cheese is always a good call in my book! They were great.
Hi Jessica, thanks for the tapas crawl low-down. I love that Barcelona puts on citywide events like this. I think I’d go for the Perol sausage and goat cheese – a combination I wouldn’t have dared before Spain, but something they do so well here, pairing fat and fat!!
Yeah, it’s a lot of fun! Plus you get to try all kinds of yummy dishes. I might not have wanted to order sausages and goat cheese, but it was really delicious.
Now I’m craving some tapas!! Surf & Turf Brochette looks so delicious. Can I dig into this place? π
