This past weekend, I went traveling to Asturias, so here’s one of my favorite photos of the weekend from Gijón.
Gijón is the biggest city in Asturias, but it’s not the capital. This coastal city was the first place we stopped in Asturias after a 13-hour bus ride across the north of Spain. Needless to say, I was pretty exhausted when I got there.
The city has a few pretty things to see, but on the whole it’s quite industrial. I started to think that Gijón wasn’t really anything special until we got to the beaches. The views of the gorgeous coastline are stunning, and the region is one of the most naturally beautiful places I’ve seen. It definitely deserves it’s nickname La Capital de la Costa Verde (The Capital of the Green Coast).
I’ll have more about my trip to Asturias coming up soon – including whether or not I did end up breaking a world record. Also, I’ve updated my Spain travel map. One more region down!
Besos!

Beautiful day you had. I have a unexpected 6 days off from work next week and quickly thinking where to go. I got to take advantage right?
Ooh what a great opportunity! I’d say definitely go somewhere – let me know where you decide! Ryanair sent me an email this morning about special offers, so you might be able to get a good deal on their site.
Such an amazing picture!
Thank you very much!
