This week, I wanted to share a photo of one of my favorite spots in Barcelona – Montjuïc!

Barcelona-Montjuic-MNAC-palace-pretty

Montjuïc is a big hill in the south of Barcelona overlooking the harbor. But it’s not just any hill – it’s stuffed full of museums, parks and gardens, a palace, a castle/fortress, pretty fountains, and even the Olympic Stadium from the 1992 Olympics. Even after living in Barcelona for about a year and a half, I’m not even close to seeing everything cool on Montjuïc.

This particular building is the Palau Nacional – the palace on Montjuïc! The Palau hosts the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya, better known as MNAC. The museum has, as the name would imply, a lot of outstanding Catalan art, but it has a big range of good stuff from all over the place, not just Catalunya.

It’s the biggest museum I’ve been to in Barcelona and I think the collection is great. Even if you don’t like the exhibitions they have one (I got lucky with a photography one and a jewelry one – two of my faves), it’s inside a palace, so it’s gorgeous to walk around.

This photo was taken in the middle of winter, so all the trees have lost their leaves. Brr! I chose this one specially today as it suddenly got sooo cold this week! On Monday I didn’t even wear a jacket to work, and today I went wearing two sweaters, a jacket, a thick scarf, and gloves.

Luckily, Barcelona is one of those cities that looks pretty in the winter as well as the summer. Now, it’s off to a 100 Montaditos dinner for me!

Besos!
