Almost exactly a year ago, I spent a lovely (but chilly) weekend in Castilla y León. Here’s one of the most beautiful things I saw during my trip – a gorgeous sunset in Segovia.
Segovia was the last city I visited on my trip (after Salamanca and tiny Ávila). It’s most famous for its Roman aqueduct, which still runs today.
The aqueduct was pretty cool, but my favorite part of visiting Segovia was watching the sun set behind the enchanting fairytale castle. The slowly setting wintry sun made the segoviano countryside glow golden then bronze, before finally settling into the pale purples of early evening.
Besos!

Beautiful sunset and clouds. I’m always in awe of the sky here in the Philippines – glad to see another cloud gazer out there. 🙂
Yeah, I love looking at clouds! These ones were especially pretty.
Gorgeous photo! I’ve been to Segovia but never close to sunset. The fairy tale castle is already pretty magical, but this sunset adds a lot of atmosphere as well 🙂
Yeah, it made the whole place just glow. I really liked Segovia.
Yes, it is a lovely castle. I visited in the Summer, it was stunning. Thanks for posting the photo, it brings back some good memories.
Bex 🙂
Oh, you’re welcome. 🙂 The castle was so stunning. Did you go inside?
Yes, I did. It was very lovely, but the views are simply stunning.
Bex 🙂
LOVE! I will be there in two weeks. Castle, aqueduct…..what else should I put on the list?
Hmm…cochinillo! It’s the local specialty and is supposed to be delicious. The cathedral is also really great.
Gorgeous pic, Jessica! Glad to see you’re making the most out of your stay in Spain 😉
Thanks! I love traveling around Spain…now I’ve got to spend some more time in Catalunya. 🙂
Great photos! Even though it is chilly, there is something special about winter in the Castilla y Leon region. The medieval towns and villages nestled into the countryside with the sierra often as a backdrop makes the experience unique.
Yes, it’s so beautiful! I think Castilla y León is my favorite region in Spain so far. I just wish it were a bit warmer there.
Segovia is one of my favorite cities in Spain. Been there long time ago when the temp was below freezing. And I love those cochinillos too. 😉
Yeah, the chilly temperatures weren’t my thing but it was beautiful! The cochinillo was a little bit too out-there for me, but as everyone says it’s so delicious, I may have to overcome my initial dislike and try it….
