Hello lovely followers! To celebrate the debut of my weekly video series MyBarcelona, we’re releasing two of the episodes this week instead of one. Come find out all about the Canaletes Fountain, Barcelona
From now on, new episodes will be available every Sunday (click HERE to follow along with the fun on YouTube). But this week is a special exception. š
Now, on to Episode #2 – the Canaletes Fountain. Watch to see why you’ll definitely want to pay a trip to this little fountain if you’ve taken a shine to Barcelona.
This is just one of the many interestingĀ little stops along Las Ramblas. I know, I know – it’s the most touristy street in the city. But it can also be a lot of fun to walk down,Ā from watching the artists paint sketches on the street to seeing the ‘living statues’ dressed in fantastic costumes. And of course, you can get yourself a guaranteed return trip to Barcelona at the Canaletes Fountain!
Speaking of Las Ramblas, the street has actually been a bit controversial lately. A lot of people believeĀ that it’s losing it’s original charm and purpose, as a lot of the traditional stalls and shops set up on the street have been swapped out for tacky stands selling plastic souvenirs. In my short time in Barcelona, they’ve already made some laws changing the Ramblas (like not being able to sell some live animals there – which I think is a good call).
While it’s a shame the traditions are being lost, and I certainly don’t want to see yet more souvenir stands, I still think it’s worth having a little stroll down Las Ramblas if you end up in Barcelona. Just don’t sit down and have a drink or mealĀ right on the RamblasĀ Ā – a friendĀ of mine recently paid more than ā¬20 for two drinks at one of the restaurants! Don’t say I didn’t warn you… š
(As a side not…thank you SO much to everyone who has been so supportive of the project so far! I’ve been shocked in a good way at the positive reception. Here’s hoping you enjoy the second episode too!)
Besos!
