A few months ago, Gaudí fans were upset over the news that his famous Parc Güell would no longer be free. And now there’s more bad news for visitors to Barcelona – the castle at Montjuïc will stop being free at the end of the month.
Still, the castle is quite a fun place to visit, especially for the incredible views of Barcelona. But don’t just take my word for it. Come see for yourselves in the latest episodes of MyBarcelona. 🙂
I’m looking forward to my next adventure this week. I’m off to Oslo! Any tips or suggestions for things to do/see/eat in Norway?
Adeu, amics!

‘take lots of money’ its crazy expensive. Im from Scotland and still reside here. I used to work in Norway in the oil and gas industry. £40 for a burger and chips. yes thats right £40!! that was in a hotel but its still crazy expensive!! beautiful place though so enjoy.

Uff £40?? That’s crazy. I think I’m going to have a stick a bag of pasta in my suitcase or something haha. Thanks for the tip!
I’ve only ever been to Barcelona once and that was over a decade ago (it was on my first ever trip to Europe at the ripe age of 18 ha ha). I’m dying to go back especially with all your lovely posts and videos.
That’s too bad that yet another attraction is turning to the financial “dark side.” Are Parc Güell & Montjuïc run by the city or are they privately operated and owned?
I haven’t been to Oslo but thought you would find this post somewhat “comical” (but yes, be aware of sticker shock apparently).

Barcelona is falling victim to its own success. It’s certainly not off -the – beaten path anymore 🙂
Btw I also just followed you on Twitter. Great blog! Looking forward to connect!

Thanks very much! 🙂 No, the secret about Barcelona is definitely out by now.
Not sure why, but we missed Montjuic when we were in Barcelona in 2006. And it wasn’t for lack of time either.
As for fee being charged, I was surprised that Parc Guell was free. There must be a lot of maintenance.
As you know, few national parks in the U.S. are free. And when we drove the northern California coast all the way to Hearst Castle, I was surprised how almost all the California parks, even small ones, charged admission.

That is so sad that they will start charging to visit Montjuic! I really enjoyed my visit there last summer and seeing the outdoor movie theater they set up.
