Hello, everyone! It’s been a busy week over here in Barcelona, with the exciting news that my washing machine broke (sarcastic hooray) and one of my favorite festivals taking place (an actual hooray!). I’m afraid all my blogging time got eaten up by “Oh my god is my flat going to be underwater when I wake up.”
BUT I have a new mini-episode of MyBarcelona, as well as a couple of really exciting announcements to make.
The new episode is about one of my favorite semi-new finds in Barcelona – the Espai Mescladís. It’s a combination of café, art gallery, and social project. Plus, it’s got a lovely terrace bar that’s great for sitting outside in the spring and summer weather.
Come take a visit!
How to visit the Espai Mescladís:
- Address: Carrer dels Carders, 35.
- Closest Metro stop: Jaume I on the yellow line.
- Cost: The lunch menu starts from €7.60. The ‘menu del día’ costs €12.50.
- Opening hours: Fall/Winter: 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Spring/Summer: 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.
- Other nearby attractions: The Picasso Museum, Santa María del Mar church, Aire de Barcelona spa, Parc de la Ciutadella.
And now, onto my announcements.
Announcement #1:
Get ready for lots of pictures from this year’s Temps de Flors flower festival in Girona! I went with a rather fantastic new camera on loan from a friend and spent a snap-happy day photographing and filming the gorgeous spring displays. Here’s a little preview:
Announcement #2:
I’m going on a trip to Berlin with Barcelona Travel Bloggers and Air Berlin this week! I was lucky enough to be one of six selected bloggers to go spend a long weekend in the city. Follow our travels with the hashtag #bcnTBberlin!
Annoucement #3:
I’m in the L.A. Times today!! The travel editor featured one of my snaps from the Feria de Abril in Sevilla. You may recognize the photo, as I’ve used it in a couple posts. I still can’t get over that the Los Angeles Times liked one of my pics! Here’s the page my mum texted me:
So, that’s all the exciting news from me for now. I’ll be back soon with more flowery pictures from Girona, plus a few things up my sleeve from Berlin!
OK, compared to all this excitement, I think I can deal with a little problem like a broken washing machine. It’s been a pretty fantastic week.
Besos!
-Jess
Congrats on having your photo featured! That’s really exciting. Have fun in Berlin 🙂
Thanks very much, Kaley! 🙂
Nice place. The view from this cafe is so charming. I would blog there for hours drinking some skinny latte which is my favourite coffee on this planet!
I love skinny lattes! Good stuff. 🙂
How exciting to have your picture featured in a major newspaper! And that cafe reminds me so much of something you’d see here in Brooklyn in NYC. It’s become something of a joke between me and my coworkers when we describe something as “tres Brooklyn.”
My washer machine broke while I was in Spain too! Turns out the filter was clogged and all we had to do was open it up to then let it soak the entire kitchen floor! We let our landlady deal with it when she came to collect our rent.
Thanks Amelie! I was really, really excited.
Haha the washing machine problem is unfortunately NOT under the landlord’s control this time, because it doesn’t belong to him. The upside is it’s not leaking. The downside is it’s not doing much of anything anymore! Oh well…
Congrats on having your photo featured in the LA Times!
Gracias, Estrella! It’s a huge honor, I’m really happy. 🙂
Congratulations on being featured in la times! This is awesome!
Thanks, Nadya! I am still so excited. 😀
The flowers of Girona look sooooo prettty! Can’t wait to read all about it, Jess!
If the internet gods are nice, hopefully it will go up later today! 😀
So exciting that you’re going to Berlin! I’m a bit jealous 😉 I’ll follow along with the hashtag!
I’m really excited too! (And I’m always jealous too when I read about other people’s travels, even if it’s to somewhere I don’t especially care for haha). We’re leaving today. 😀
Congrats on Berlin and the LA Times!! How awesome is that?!!
Thank you, Nina! It’s been a pretty good month!
