This week, I want to share a picture from one of the prettiest places I’ve been in Spain – Segovia. I feel like I say every Spanish city is one of the prettiest, but it’s true!
I went to Segovia back in March on a long weekend. Before I went, I had no idea what to expect. Segovia’s main attraction is the huge Roman aqueduct, so the beautiful cathedral surprised me. At this point, giant gorgeous religious buildings in Spain really shouldn’t surprise me (almost every town has something stunning), but they still do!
Segovia’s cathedral is right on the city’s Plaza Mayor, so there’s lots of outdoor seating to admire the building from. It’s a pretty building, but it turned into something amazing around sunset. The whole cathedral was bathed in beautiful golden light, and it seemed to almost be glowing. The light only lasted a few minutes, sadly.
So this is my favorite sunset shot, of one of the little lion sculptures guarding the cathedral. I love the colors and the light. But my favorite thing about this picture is that the lion looks like he’s having a quick afternoon bird snack. This one makes me smile every time I see it.
Besos!

I crazy love Segovia, Salamanca, Valladolid…that’s where I studied and where I learned to love Spain! The colors bring me right back to the Drought of 2005 and the litres of beer we drank that summer to keep cool…
Haha sounds awesome! That region of Spain is amazing, I’d love to spend more time there someday.
What pretty light, great pic!
Thanks! It was too bad it only lasted a couple minutes because it was so beautiful while it did.
Gorgeous!!!
Thanks! I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.
Beautiful! I have a very similar shot of the Cathedral in Salamanca! I have to go through my albums and see if I can find it 🙂
Thanks! Great minds think alike, no? 🙂
