Hello everyone! I’m a tiiiiny bit late on my regular Where in Spain Wednesday post because I had an unexpectedly busy evening. Still, I’m here!
Barcelona’s Passeig de Gràcia is the poshest street in the city. It’s filled with designer shops, fancy hotels, and expensive restaurants. But my favorite part of this street is the architectural details, like these beautiful buildings or the hidden bats.
I chose this particular photo today because it shows Gaudí’s Casa Batlló (on the right) and Josep Puig i Cadafalch’s Casa Amatller (on the left) on a rainy day in Barcelona. Sadly, today was another rainy day and very chilly. I had a college alumni reunion tonight, and it somehow kept coming up how much I hate the cold! So I’m trying to remind myself that sometimes cold rainy days can show off a prettier, softer side of the city…
Still, I’m pretty fed up of my winter coat at this point. Come on, primavera!
Besos!

I enjoyed visiting this street in Barcelona.. but I thought the building on the right is the Casa Battlo? They are both examples of great architecture.
Oops, you’re right! Typo on my part 🙂
That picture is beautiful! I’m also sick of the cold weather—bring my sun back!
Thanks! Looks like our wish came true – it’s lovely and sunny today. 🙂
I used to live in reina elisenda and a lot of my friends lived in Gracia. How I miss Barcelona. Love the photograph. Thank you :0]
You’re welcome! 🙂 I love Gràcia, I may have to live there next time I move. I live really close to these buildings, which is nice but noisy.
I love Gaudi! I know everyone says that, but i find his work so intriguing. I don’t speak Catalan, but I’m guessing Passeig is somehow related to the Italian Passeggiata. This is where people of all ages essentially leave their homes to go take an evening stroll out on the town to mingle with friends, family, and strangers. I love this idea! To me, this creates a great sense of community, which is something that I could so strongly feel when I was in Spain.
Yep, passeig is the same as the Spanish paseo, which sounds like the Italian passeggiata as you described it. I love watching all the people doing the paseo in Spain, especially the adorable little old couples.
Lovely photo
Thanks very much! 🙂
Casa Batlló is magnificent! Can’t believe I missed it when I was in Barcelona 🙁
Oh well, I guess you’ll just have to visit again! 😉
Wow – those windows & balconies on the right look like they’re straight out of a fairy tale!
Yeah, they look completely unreal!
