Hello again from the País Vasco! While I’m off enjoying my vacation in the north of Spain, I have a photo to share from the Catalan coastline – in Sitges.
Sitges is a beach town to the south of Barcelona. In about half an hour to forty minutes, the train whisks you away to beautiful sandy beaches, miles of clear blue water, and a small city dotted with pretty old buildings. It’s definitely not your average Barcelona platja; as nice as it is to bike down to the beach in 15 minutes, the city’s beaches are stuffed to bursting all summer long. ‘Relaxing’ may not apply in all (most) cases when it comes to Barceloneta!
Ah, and one more thing about Sitges – it’s home to one of the craziest Carnaval parties in all of Spain. The mix of a beachfront location, a thriving gay party culture, and an exuberant holiday leads to some rather enjoyable celebrations. If you’re ever around Barcelona in February, I highly suggested that you check out Carnaval in Sitges!
Besos!

Oh Sitges is so lovely! xx
I agree, it’s one of my favorite beaches!
I’m going to visit Sitges for Santa Tecla festival in September when I’m in Catalonia. Looking forward to it a lot!
Have you been before? It’s so pretty! I’ve never been to Santa Tecla but I’ve heard great things.
Nah not yet! That’s why I figured I’d add it to the list for this time 🙂
Just got back from a week in Sitges, it was fantastic!! Great beach, great food, great shopping!
What a great place to spend a week! Jealous 🙂
Hello Jess!
I’m here in Barcelona enjoying your beautiful weather!
Very nice! I just got back and the weather absolutely beautiful today. How long are you in BCN for?
I’m already back in the states but spent almost a week there for work.
Hey! That’s great! Sitges is a really cool place. It’s well known for it’s big gay community 😀
I love Sitges too! It’s so much fun. Have you ever been to the Carnaval party there?
