It seems like summer is already on its way out here in Barcelona – it’s cooled off significantly, and today has been full of rain and thunder. So this week I want to share a picture of how pretty Barcelona looks in the rain.
It’s one of the Gaudí-designed tiles that line Passeig de Gràcia (the poshest street in Barcelona), in the rain, and really shows how beautiful Barcelona is in any kind of weather. The rain brings out the colors in the tiles, are pale grey-green in the sunlight.
Rainy days really aren’t my thing (I’m a California girl after all!). But when the sky is overcast, the buildings suddenly shine like jewels and the whole city unveils its incredible hidden colors.
That makes putting up with a bit of rain so worth it.
Besos!

Beautiful tiles 🙂
Ah, so beautiful! I left for Barcelona a year ago today, things must be getting ready to kick off for La Merce, yes?
Yep, you’re right! It’s this weekend, I’m so excited.
I love the tiles and textures of Barcelona. It makes me want to be a kid again and go around the city making wax crayon rubbings of everything.
Same, there are so many pretty details to look at, even just in the pavement.
Ooh, love this!
Thanks very much!
